Cosmetic treatment can freshen up your look.
What are your expectations from cosmetic medical treatments?
It is a very personal thing, how we see ourselves when we look in the mirror.
There are non surgical medical treatments that can help us
Modern treatments with botulinum toxins (Botox, Dysport) can soften wrinkles and lines that accumulated on your face. The main areas approved for injection therapy are the forehead wrinkles, the vertical creases between the eyebrows and the crows feet lines alongside the eyes. Sometimes injections are used to soften fine wrinkles above the top lip,
Administered by experienced medical doctors these are safe and effective cosmetic treatments that will give you a fresher, younger look. The injections are virtually painless. This treatment will wear off over a number of months and must be repeated periodically to maintain effectiveness.
There are a lot of misconceptions about these treatments, so come and discuss your needs before settling on injection therapy. Botulinum Toxin will not “lift the face” and in fact a possible side effect can be a heaviness of the upper eyelids. If you already have heaviness there you must be prepared for this to be aggravated in the short term.
Botulinum can also soften the large chewing muscles and reduce teeth grinding although the quantity of product required can make this pricey.
The amount of product needed, the number of areas treated, will influence the final cost of treatment.
Cosmetic filler injections using natural collagen can restore the loss of youthful fat pads in the face. Filler restores the structure of the face and compliments the wrinkle treatments. Typical areas treated are the cheeks (helps to lift the jowls) and the lips (when the lips have become thin and wrinkled). A filler treatment can last a year and half without top ups.
Filler injections are more pricey to administer but the effects are more structural. You will need to discuss your needs with the doctor and the product may have t be ordered in advance.
Planning for cosmetic treatments starts with a long consultation where your doctor will discuss with you what your aims are. They will take photographs and discuss a treatment plan. After a cooling off period you will book for your treatment session. When booking your appointment please specify to the receptionists that you are booking a cosmetic appointment.
All cosmetic treatments are not covered by medicare or health fund rebates. Costs will vary depending on the amount of treatment required and be discussed at the planning appointment. Part of your first appointment will be credited towards your first treatment session.
